San Juan Community Theatre is the cultural heart of beautiful San Juan Island, Washington. Located in the historic and picturesque town of Friday Harbor, the Theatre is a state-of-the-art facility offering a wide variety of performances year-around for the benefit of island residents and visitors alike.
Performances are presented in one of the Theatre? two venues: the 285-seat Whittier Theatre, or the more intimate “black box” Gubelman Theatre typically configured to seat between 60 and 75 patrons. Our main Theatre building is complemented by our Performing Arts Resource Center (we call it “PARC”) that provides space for rehearsals, children's programs, set construction, costume creation and storage, and a variety of other behind-the-scenes activities.
Our community benefits enormously from the presence of this amazing complex. When seeing the Theatre for the first time, new residents, visitors and touring artists are often heard to say, “I can't believe that such a small island is able to support and sustain a facility of this quality!”
The Theatre offers something for everyone. We have multiple locally produced shows each year, in addition to touring professional artists, plays and concerts presented by island schoolchildren, and performances by local groups such as the San Juan Singers and Chamber Music San Juans. Whether you enjoy serious drama, light-hearted comedy, music or dance, you're sure to find many performances throughout the year that will keep you coming back for more! Check out Coming Events for information about our future performances.
Tickets can be purchased online, by calling 360-378-3210, or by visiting us in person during regular Box Office hours.
