San Juan Community Theatre
SJCT is seeking an experienced Director of Development to lead the organization’s fundraising, donor education, member engagement, planned giving, and project fundraising activities.
The Director of Development leads the work of SJCT’s Development Department in a manner consistent with strategic plan, mission, and budget. Objectives include the launch of a Legacy/Planned Giving campaign to grow SJCT’s $1.9M endowment. To ensure a broad and diverse funding base, the position oversees the planning and implementation of fundraising strategies, including: soliciting gifts from individual donors and corporate sponsors (and stewarding those relationships), researching and applying for foundation grants, and executing our two annual fundraising events—the Summer Gala and Holiday Festival. The Director of Development also works with the Development Committee of the SJCT Board of Directors to achieve these tasks.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of development management experience working in a non-profit setting, with a proven track record in fundraising. SJCT is a community theatre with an annual budget of $850K, 65% of which is provided through fundraising.
This is a new full-time position which reports to the Executive Artistic Director. The Development Director supervises the Development Officer, a half-time administrative position. This position is located at the San Juan Community Theatre offices in Friday Harbor, WA. Office hours are flexible, some evening and weekend work is required.
On the job training with our development database software (Theatre Manager) is provided. Position is open until filled. Start date can be as early as December 1, 2019.

San Juan Community Theatre (SJCT) is in the picturesque town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in the Pacific Northwest. For over 30 years, SJCT has been the home for performing arts on San Juan Island, and our mission is Enriching Community Through Performing Arts.
