Lucky (2017)  NR  88 Minutes

This comedy/drama follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his desert town. Having out lived and out smoked all of his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the end of his life, thrust into a journey of self exploration, and the quest for enlightenment. Acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch's directorial debut, the film is at once a love letter to the life and career of Harry Dean Stanton as well as a lesson on morality, loneliness, spirituality and the human connection.

The SJCT Summer Film Series features a variety of independent films and documentaries.

The series is the brainchild of islander Larry Soll, who has always enjoyed independent films and wanted to have the opportunity to see them on the island. “The goal is to offer mind-broadening experiences for islanders," said Larry.
