Island Songs 2026 returns to the San Juan Community Theatre on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 7:30 PM for its highly anticipated annual showcase of local songwriting and original music. Designed to celebrate the unique creative talent of the San Juan Island community, the event provides a rare platform for island musicians to perform on a premier stage equipped with full production, lighting, and sound.
Island Songs is an annual musical showcase dedicated to celebrating original songwriting and local musical talent within San Juan Island. By bringing island performers to the San Juan Community Theatre stage, the event fosters local arts, builds community connection, and highlights the vibrant culture of Friday Harbor.
For local artists, Island Songs represents a vital institution. True listening venues on the island are scarce, often requiring musicians to haul equipment and set up production spaces from scratch for single performances. Island Songs was created to bridge that gap, opening the doors of the San Juan Community Theatre once a year specifically to showcase original local works in a professional concert setting.

The 2026 lineup features two distinct local acts:
Seagrass: Longtime island favorite songwriters weaving acoustic instrumentation, percussion, and harmony singing into original Americana, Irish rock, and familiar covers.
Tara Craig: Joined by rhythm section Daniel DeShon (bass) and Scott Sluis (drums), former Austin "Best Female Musician" award-winner Tara Craig presents a dynamic indie folk-pop set that doubles as the official release show for her new EP, I've been looking for you. Setting this performance apart from any previous show, Craig will be joined by special guests Marco Arroyo (Austin, TX) on electric guitar and Meg Baier (Sedona, AZ) on keys and backing vocals.Community turnout directly influences the future of the event, ensuring that local artists have a dedicated stage for seasons to come.
